  • Tourist infrastructure: The facilities for trekkers along the Khopra Ridge trek route are okay. You will get basic accommodation and a good variety of food to choose from. Most of the services, like charging, hot shower, WiFi, etc, are available at a few extra bucks.

Altitude Sickness

The highest point on the Khopra Ridge trek is 4,500 meters. Gaining this elevation in just a few days of walking can trigger altitude sickness, but you will not spend a night at this height. Overall, the risk of altitude sickness is low because you will spend most of your time below 3,500 meters.

Symptoms: Vomiting, loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, headache, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, etc.

Preventive measures: Stay hydrated during trekking. Avoid alcohol or cigarettes. Ascend slowly, listen to your body, and maintain your pace. Finally, have ample food and get enough rest.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is needed for the Khopra Ridge trek. You must purchase it in your country because it is not available in Nepal. The insurance must cover medical bills and helicopter evacuation. The Khopra Ridge route is remote and has no roadways, so helicopter rescue is a must in an emergency.

Khopra Ridge trek permits

To do the Khopra Ridge trek, you will need the TIMS Card and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit. Our package cost covers the fees for both of these permits. Similarly, our team will obtain the permits in advance on your behalf. The cost of the permits is USD 20 and USD 30, respectively.

The best time to do the Khopra Ridge trek

The Khopra Ridge trek route is in the best condition during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These are the top trekking times because of steady weather and mild climates. The weather-related challenges increase in summer/monsoon (June to August) and winter (December to February).

Accommodation & food during the trek

It is a community lodge-based trek. Trekkers get twin-shared rooms with common washrooms. Western-style toilets are available in many places, but you may have to use squat toilets in some places. The rooms are small but cozy. You can bring a sleeping bag if you are not comfortable sleeping on new beds every day.

Likewise, trekkers enjoy a variety of food on this trek. The menu ranges from pasta, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and French fries to typical local dishes like dal bhat, fried rice, rice with curry, thukpa, momo, noodles, etc. You will get eggs, sausages, bread, fruit, pancakes, muesli, oats, paratha, etc, for breakfast.

  • Services in the lodge: Charging, WiFi, and hot showers cost a few extra bucks. These expenses are not covered in the Khopra Ridge trek cost.
