Pre-climbing training: boost your confidence and hone your climbing skills

We organize pre-climbing training at the base camp, but during the Lobuche East Peak climbing, the training will be at a high camp. Your team leader will brief you on the climbing route conditions and climbing plan.

After that, he will teach you a few climbing skills to help you during the summit push. You will learn to use essential climbing gear. For beginner climbers, the pre-climbing training will be a huge morale boost.

Lobuche peak climbing emergency and evacuation

You must understand that climbing in the Himalayas involves risks of injuries, altitude sickness, accidents, natural disasters, etc. If you have to leave the region immediately, helicopter rescue is the only option.

We have tested many safety strategies over the years and designed the safest emergency plan for any emergency. Your team leader will be equipped with a satellite phone to contact us anytime during distress.

As per the situation, we will inform our rescue team, who stay on standby during the entire climbing duration. The rescue team will do their best to reach your location within a few minutes of the distress call.

Upon landing in Kathmandu, you have to complete the visa formalities. After that, meet our team at the arrival area. They will transfer you to the hotel in a private car. Check-in at your hotel and get some rest. Later, meet the mountain guide during the trip briefing and spend the remaining day shopping for climbing essentials and packing duffel bags.

If you travel to the Everest region in spring and autumn, you will take the Lukla flight from Ramechhap Airport. You will go to Kathmandu around 1:00 AM and drive to the airport. It takes 4 to 5 hours to get there. The flight will be early in the morning. Enjoy a stunning mountain panorama.

At Lukla, you will be joined by the porter. Start walking downhill with your guide and porter to Phakding village. The trail goes through small settlements like Chheplung and Ghat. You will trek through forests of rhododendrons and magnolia. On the way, cross numerous suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River.

The trail from Phakding continues through rhododendron forests and crosses many suspension bridges, including the long Tenzing Hillary suspension bridge. Permits are registered in Monjo village. From here, follow a steep uphill route to Namche Bazaar.

Essential Info

Lobuche Peak Climbing with Cho La Pass & EBC difficulty

Climbing Lobuche Peak is strenuous. The difficulty of Lobuche Peak is marked Alpine PD+. The peak is not technically challenging, so beginner climbers can climb it. However, the physical and mental demands of the climb are very high.

So, people willing to do Lobuche Peak climbing must have previous trekking experience, strong fitness, and Himalayan trail awareness. You do not need climbing skills to join our Lobuche Peak climbing. However, basic mountain awareness is required.

While climbing the mountain, you have to push yourself beyond limits. The thin air, low oxygen level, cold, and exposure to the sun test your limits. You have to be mentally prepared to face these challenges.

Most of the climbing routes are snow slopes that you will climb using fixed ropes. The final ascend to the summit requires climbing on a 45° slope.

Altitude Sickness

There is a high risk of altitude sickness on Lobuche Peak climbing because you will go above 6,000 meters from sea level. So, climbers have to acclimatize before they start climbing.

Following our Lobuche Peak climbing itinerary, you will spend 11 days trekking. The ascent to Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass, Everest Base Camp, and Kala Patthar will allow you to adapt to elevation and avoid altitude sickness.

Similarly, if you keep yourself hydrated, listen to your body, and maintain your pace, you are highly likely to complete the journey without suffering from altitude sickness. Note that rest is important during the trip. So, every day, get ample rest.

Symptoms:

These are some of the early symptoms of altitude sickness: vomiting, headache, difficulty breathing, nausea, insomnia, dizziness, and loss of appetite. Ask your guide to provide first aid if you have seen these symptoms. Only ascend ahead if the symptoms go away.

Travel Insurance

Lobuche Peak climbing requires travel insurance that covers emergency helicopter evacuation and medical bills.

There are risks of altitude sickness, injuries, and accidents while climbing in the Himalayas, so travel insurance with necessary coverage is important to keep you safe in a crisis.

All climbers are requested to give their travel insurance documents to use before the trip begins. We will use it to provide rescue if required.

Guide and porter

You will climb Lobuche Peak with a professional and experienced Sherpa. The expedition is also supported by an assistant guide and porters. Our expert, strong guide and support crew ensure a safe climbing expedition.

The best time to do Lobuche Peak Climbing in Nepal

Climbing seasons in Nepal are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Spring and autumn have stable weather in the Himalayas, which makes climbing safe. There is a very low risk of avalanches and snowstorms. You will get many climbing windows.

Likewise, these two seasons are also peak trekking seasons. The trails in the Khumbu region are all open to welcome trekkers. The environment is joyful, and the mountain views are stunning. Likewise, a moderate climate allows you to enjoy trekking to the fullest.

Accommodation

During trekking, you will spend nights in basic lodge accommodations along the trail. Twins-shared rooms and common washrooms are usually available in the lodges. Single rooms cost extra money. Many places have Western-style toilets, but you also have to use squat toilets in some places.

Budget a daily allowance for services like hot showers, WiFi, and charging during trekking. These services cost extra money and are not covered by your package cost. Bring a power bank, solar charger, adapter, etc.

At the Lobuche Peak High Camp, you will spend one night in a tent. We will provide the group with alpine tents, which the supporting crew will send. Climbers get separate sleeping tents and common washroom and dining tents.

Meals

The lodge's breakfast menu includes toast, eggs, sausages, fruits, soup, porridge, oats, muesli, Tibetan bread, chapati, puri tarkari, pancakes, etc. Likewise, for lunch and dinner, you will get fried rice, rice with curries, dal bhat, thukpa, momo, noodles, pasta, etc.

Pizza, burgers, and other dishes are also available in some villages. We will provide you with fresh meals at the Lobuche Peak High Camp. The meals will be picked to provide you with ample energy to climb mountains.

A solo traveler can join our fixed departure group for the Lobuche Peak climbing. You will climb in a small group of 4 to 8 participants from around the world.

You can remove the EBC and Cho La pass from the itinerary. However, we only recommend removing these excursions if you are an expressed climber or can adjust to the altitude right away.
